UV expands services on offer 24th March 2011

Underwood Vinecombe has recently expanded its range of services on offer with the appointment in December 2010 of specialist private client lawyer, Christine Hinkley. The development of the firm’s private client service has come about largely as a reaction to client requirements and will be offered as an ancillary service.

Christine brings over 15 years experience to the role and has a strong track record in the provision of high quality client care.

Christine specialises in all forms of private client work including will drafting, inheritance tax planning, administration of estates and Court of Protection work. Christine is also able to offer advice in the specialist field of residential care planning, including matters such as assessment criteria and financial provision of residential care.

Team expansion 1st July 2009

Since opening in September 2008, Underwood Vinecombe has already expanded by making two additions to the team. Dan Furness joined the firm in January as an Associate and Jill Benbow became a Consultant with the firm in April.

Dan, a commercial property lawyer, joined UV having previously spent two and a half years working with both Stuart Underwood and Mark Vinecombe at his previous firm. Specialising in all types of commercial property work, Dan is able to advise on a full range of property transactions, ranging from acquisitions and disposals for developers, investors and occupiers to dealing with leases of all types of business premises. Dan also has experience of acting for clients and their lenders on secured lending and refinancing deals.

Jill qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and has been a commercial litigator for many years. She was previously a Partner and head of litigation at Nottingham firm, Fraser Brown. Jill has significant experience in all types of commercial disputes and is therefore able to offer advice on areas such as insolvency, commercial property and construction, professional negligence, partnership and shareholder issues and debt collection. Jill’s appointment as a Consultant to the firm now means that UV can offer its clients advice on contentious issues as well as non-contentious transactional matters.

Open for business 13th October 2008

With more than 50 years experience in the legal profession between them, Stuart Underwood and Mark Vinecombe are pooling resources to provide clients with a responsive service that is based on 'traditional values'.

From new offices in Little Eaton, Underwood Vinecombe will focus on all types of property matters, using their experience and expertise to advise on issues such as acquisition and disposal of commercial property, residential conveyancing and property investment and management.

The firm, which has now opened its doors for business, will also be able to advise on financing and secured lending, business acquisitions and disposals and leasehold issues.

"Despite the external economic factors, we felt confident in launching the business at this time, and whilst times are difficult, there are many opportunities that were not available just 12 months ago" explained Mark, who launched his legal career as a trainee solicitor for Flint Bishop and Barnett in 1994 before becoming a partner with Nelsons.

"Over recent years we have identified a need for a firm which can provide a high-quality, specialist service. Particularly in property-related matters, clients want to build solid relationships with individual lawyers rather than deal with a more traditional corporate structure."

His views are echoed by Stuart, also a former partner at Nelsons, who began his legal career in 1971 with Derby-based Gadsby, Coxon and Copestake,.

"We are confident in the success of the business and we hope to  be able to strengthen our team in the near future. We've already taken on a legal executive and more recruits are in the pipeline," he said.

In addition to their own extensive experience, Stuart and Mark also have the support of Mark's father, John Vinecombe – former Senior Partner with Flints – who will be acting as a consultant to the new firm.
